It could be wonderful if BMW would style and design engineer for all wheel coil overs; struts and helper rear springs blah !
So...i really need to use jack to assistance arm so the spring dont have free and dont have compress ? Just spring is sitting down without the need of compression. Then i have to screw shock up and match the bottom shock mount with arm mount ? then insert bolt , tighten and thats all ?
Incorporate to estimate Only display this consumer #1 · Oct nine, 2012 So I had been browsing all-around for coilovers and stumbled on these. I searched over the message boards and could not come across one thread on these coilovers so I figured I might publish a thread on it.
Previous but not the very least, I need to also indicate the updated too hats can be a huge update for me. Even now created out of some thick 6061 aluminum, The brand new design encompasses a recessed Heart, that makes camber adjustments significantly far better.
Add to quotation Only demonstrate this person #1 · Oct four, 2020 Hey Everybody! I am new listed here but I have seemed around and could not locate something on rally suspension. I do know former generation BMWs were being usually used in rally but not much the E46.
I am taking a look at post #3, is there a provision that I don't see that ties Anything you did into your sub-body ?
Middle the spring perches on the control arm, modify rear trip peak by going lock nuts up/down on threads, get a good reference place - measure peak from where decrease spring satisfies collar to base perch, alter identical for both sides.
I just measure the peak from fender to rim lip a few instances per week, until im having basically exactly the same it doesn't matter where i park, and almost everything has settled and all that.
For nearly anything apart from a race motor vehicle, a coilover rear is a completely squandered physical exercise. The fab perform pictured over appears to be nice, but what you need is actually a cage that ties to the rear shock towers.
Great!! That's what I'm scheduling Down the road! Did you reinforce the very best with the mount also? I was thinking about executing a little something much like the oem front reinforcement plates welded on the E46 coilover highest. I'm in all probability just paranoid although because folks are working them without any reinforcement whatsoever.
After upper tower mounts are installed, screw downward the dampers physique till it reaches lessen mounting bolt on hub. The spring and Handle arm really should be just cosy on its perch. Then bolt the decreased damper to the hub, try this for each side, Never cosy its lock nut down yet.
There's rarely any physique roll, although the streets are already a bit damp lately, so I did not go all out on any turns. Cannot look forward to some dry times. Anyhow, my query is do I need a camber adjustment plate or package? Or will alignment be adequate?
Substantial As a result of FCPEuro for dealing with me with the years to take care of my troubles, and finally replacing the whole ST package.
Can any one describe the precise distinctions between the coilover kits for the standard E46 along with the convertible versions? Are there alterations in spring rates, dampening, or fitment which make them exclusive to convertibles? Would the convertible-particular kits get the job done for a standard E46, or vice versa?
